    Payback first
I cannot believe Supervisor Bob Martin would even consider making a motion to appoint Billy Mitchell to serve on the Carroll Planning Commission after taking more than $400,000 in Carroll funds. Give the job to a law-abiding citizen and let Billy Mitchell apply for a public job after he has paid back his $93,547 [in remaining restitution to the county].

    Lost and found
There is an orange and white work zone barrel in my yard on Branch Street. So, if the city is missing one or someone else is, it is in my yard. Just come by and pick it up.

    Wonderful story
What a wonderful story you have written about — Tommy Adams. Very touching, moving, inspirational. You deserve all the kudos. Great job.

    Too many clerks?
If the Town of Hillsville employs any more clerks for the town hall, they will need to buy a mobile office and put it in back of town hall.

    Expensive tastes
This blew my mind when I read in the Hotline the person fussing about somebody wanting cigarettes and pop and said they could barely afford to keep themselves up. Cigarettes and pop cost a fortune. How can they afford that if they are on a fixed income like I am? That’s ridiculous.

    Wasted effort
Thank you, Grayson supervisors, for wasting my money on [bounties for] coyotes. I will do everything in my power the next election to make sure you are not reelected for voting to kill the coyotes.
Editor’s note: So you’ll be informed come election time: the increase in the coyote bounty fund, like the bounty itself, was decided by a 3-2 vote. Supervisors Glen Rosenbaum, David Sexton and John Brewer voted for it, and Supervisors Kenneth Belton and Brenda Sutherland voted against it.

    Not the first time
This is in reference to the KKK recruitment pamphlets that have been handed out. About 13 years ago, I received the same literature. It wasn’t delivered in my mail, but it was a recruitment package left in my driveway. I took this to the sheriff’s office and nothing was ever mentioned or heard of that. It has been an ongoing thing for years — the recruitment. It’s not just a thing that has happened in the recent weeks.

    Bad idea
Dear Supervisor Rosenbaum: I will vote for anybody other than you because of this coyote issue. My hard-earned money is going toward the killing of coyotes and paying hunters out of my tax money and whoever instituted the $500 contest should be run out of town.
