WOODLAWN — The Sears Hometown Store in Carroll County is closing on Jan. 15, after about 20 years of business, according to manager Bobby Davis.
The store began in Galax, but in 2012 it moved to a new location at 30 Partridge Road, off U.S. 58 in Woodlawn.
The approximately seven employees will be laid off. “It’s not the best time of year to be looking for a new job,” said Davis, who has been at the store for six years.
The reason given by the Sears Corporation, he said, was “not enough support from the community.”
