He has three brothers: Braeden, Levi and Grayson. His grandparents are Harry Cox, Bo and Susan Moxley and Harvey and Jill Ward. His great-grandparents are Odell Moxley, Mary Jane Hollings-worth, Danna Ward, and Lacy and Dreama Bowman.

He is the son of Scott and Cindy Sluss of Galax. He has a brother, Brandon, and a sister, Madison. His grandparents are Robert and Regina Lundy of Ennice, N.C., and Bud and Pat Sluss of Tazewell.

    Debbie Gaye Lauze and Charles George Blair were united in marriage at the home of Edward and LaVern Buchanan in Hillsville on March 25.  
    The wedding was officiated by Edward E. Buchanan, minister of Round Knob Church of Christ, Austinville.
    The bride is the daughter of the late Clinton and Ethel Gallimore of Austinville.
    The groom is a native of White, Ga.
    Present at the ceremony were the bride’s daughter, Brittany; grandson, Cameron (ring bearer); and LaVern Buchanan.

    Kenzi Juliann Hennis, also affectionately known as Little Bit, turned three years old on Sept. 5. She celebrated with family and friends with a “Paw Patrol” party at Felts Park.

    Her parents are Chris and Lorie Hennis of Galax. She is the younger sister of Andrew and Faith and the big sister of Trinity. Her grandparents are Harvey Hennis, Judy Hennis and Gary and Jan Guynn, all of Galax; and Julian and Patti Price of Luray. Her great-grandmother is Elizabeth Johnson of Galax.

    Briley McKinley Marshall celebrated his fourth birthday Dec. 10 with a Captain America party. He is the son of Chrissy Marshall and the late Joseph Marshall.

    His big sisters are Izzie and Cassie Marshall. His grandparents are Randy Bell and the late Kim Bell and Dennis and Opie Marshall. His great-grandparents are M.C. Bell and the late Irene Bell, the Late Verna Liddle, O’Neal and O’Needa Terry, and the Late Virgil and Patty Marshall.

  • Couple to celebrate anniversary today

    David and Gail Hayes were married Dec. 22, 1967, at Howard’s Creek Baptist Church in Boone, N.C.

    Their simple evening service is perhaps best remembered for the six inches of fresh snow that awaited the full church afterwards.
    They enjoy the simple life on the farm of their dreams in beautiful Spring Valley in Grayson County. Friends John Mack and Ruby Rutherford Funk sold the Rutherford farm to them in 1993.
    Their children are Nancy of Fries and Nathan and Kristi of Kingsport, Tenn.

  • Boyers celebrate anniversary

    Jim and Frances Boyer celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family at The Depot in Dobson, N.C.

    They were married Oct. 25, 1947. They have three daughters and sons-in-law: Peggy and Wade Billings, Patsy and Charles Sturgill and Debra and Ricky Edwards. They also have five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

  • Shelton, Anderson to marry

    Mr. and Mrs. Michael Shelton of Slidell, La., announced the engagement of their daughter, Kelsey Marie, to Dustin Ray Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Anderson of Troutdale.

    Shelton’s grandparents are Phil and Sharon Bressler of State College, Pa., and the late Leta Dugas Bergeron of Morgan City, La. Her great-grandmother is Mary Kammerzell of Concord, Ca.
    Anderson’s grandparents are Ray and Nancy Anderson of Troutdale, Dewey and Robeana Teaster of Marion and the late Alma Teaster.
