Sharon Walker of Fries, a former Waddell Nursing & Rehab certified nursing assistant, was found guilty in General District Court on Monday for taking pictures of nursing home residents while they were undressed.

Waddell Nursing & Rehab called investigators in July after they received an anonymous note from employees stating that Walker and another former Waddell can, Livia Crisan — also charged in the case — were taking inappropriate pictures of patients with their cell phones and showed them to others.

Both were terminated on July 27.

The judge sentenced Walker to a year in jail, suspended. She must serve a year of probation and pay a $1,500 fine and court costs.

Walker, who was originally charged with two counts of knowingly and intentionally photographing a non-consenting person who was nude or in a state of undress, was convicted of the misdemeanor charge of abusing an incapacitated adult.

At the time of the incident this summer, Jim Wooddell, administrator of the nursing home, said at no time prior to the July 16 investigation was any resident physically abused or harmed.

Waddell Nursing & Rehab, located on Painter Street in Galax, employs 155 and has about 130 residents.

Livia Crisan is schedule to appear in court on Monday.
