Body found in N.C., two arrested in Grayson County

Two people have been arrested in Grayson County, in connection with a homicide in North Carolina.

Names of the suspects had not been released at press time.

Local and state law enforcement agencies from Virginia and North Carolina announced Saturday that they are conducting a homicide investigation after a body was discovered April 3.

Sheriff Steve C. Hiatt of the Surry County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office said April 6 that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

In a news release, Hiatt stated that his office began investigating when a body was found in the Watershed/Pine Ridge community of Surry County last week.

According to both Hiatt and Carroll County Sheriff J.B. Gardner, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was called to assist in processing the scene where the body was found.

Grayson Sheriff Richard Vaughn confirmed Saturday that the suspect and his girlfriend were arrested in Grayson County last Thursday afternoon. Police have confirmed that the two arrested are being held without bond and that more information will be released as it becomes available.

This is an active investigation and no specific details of the cause of death, nor the name of the suspects or victim, have been released at this time.

Law enforcement agencies assisting in the investigation include the Allegheny County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Airy (N.C.) Police Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Office.
