Restoring rights to felons: redemption or politics?

-A A +A

Guest Editorial

Rep. Morgan Griffith, R-Salem, has represented Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District since 2011. The district includes Carroll and Grayson counties and Galax. He previously was majority leader in the Virginia House of Delegates.

As you may know, Gov. Terry McAuliffe signed an executive order on April 22 that restores “…the rights of every Virginia felon who completed his or her sentence and all other requirements as of April 22, 2016. The total number of Virginians impacted by the Governor’s order today is 206,000.”
