The Summer Plein Air Day at Mt. Vale Vineyards is scheduled for 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 21, rain or shine.

Plein Air artists paint outdoors, working quickly to capture the light and complete their work in one day.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a wine and cheese reception, art show and wet-paint auction of the day's works at 3:30 p.m.
Wine will be available for purchase, and Mt. Vale will release their new red blend, a Bordeaux-like wine, at this event.
Artist registration begins at 8 a.m. The $20 registration fee includes lunch and a glass of wine. Prizes are awarded during the reception and include $150 for first place, $100 for second place, $50 for third place and a gift basket for People’s Choice.

There will also be an art auction at the end of the day with a 20 percent commission on work sold at the event.
This event is sponsored by Chestnut Creek School of the Arts, The Doctor's Inn and Mt. Vale Vineyards.

Mt. Vale Vineyards is located at 3222 Meadow Creek Rd. in Galax.
