Pipers Gap home burns

-A A +A
By Shannon Watkins

No injuries or casualties occurred during a house fire on Pipers Gap Road at 11:28 p.m. on Friday, according to Larry Wilson of the Galax Volunteer Fire Department.
A neighbor spotted the fire as he was coming home from work and called 911. Firefighters arrived to find one end of the home on fire.
The homeowner — an elderly woman and its only occupant — is in an assisted living facility in Hillsville, said Wilson. He said that he believed the fire started in the basement, but did not know the cause.
