Electronic devices can’t be activated, callers told Hillsville police

Staff Report

HILLSVILLE — The Hillsville Police Department has issued an alert for anyone who bought an electronic device at this year’s Labor Day Flea Market & Gun Show, held last weekend.

The alert said the police department has received phone calls concerning electronic devices purchased from a vendor that was set up near CVS in Hillsville.

According to the callers, the devices purchased looked new in their boxes, “but when the buyers called the 800 number listed on the packages to complete activation, they were informed that the devices were unable to be activated because there were no sales receipts showing a valid electronics’ purchase,” the alert said.

Anyone that has experienced the same or similar situation should contact Investigator Alan Gravley at (276) 728-2251.
