Staff Report

Hospitals are now required by federal law to disclose how much their services cost.

The rule took effect last week and is intended to give patients information about procedures, medications and services they are paying for. The goal is to help patients shop around for the best price.

The spreadsheets, called “chargemasters,” must be posted on all hospitals' websites. The prices listed are estimates of the average costs of services, and can vary depending on a number of factors, from a patient's medical needs to what kind of insurance they have.

Twin County Regional Healthcare's price list can be found here: tcrh.org/for-patients-and-visitors/understanding-billing-and-charges/. Then, click on the link “list of charges” highlighted in the article on that page to download a list in Microsoft Excel format.
