Hope House helping family that lost home

-A A +A

The Galax Hope House is collecting donations for the family of Andres and Christy Mendoza, who suffered a major financial loss when the house they were renting caught fire on Dec. 30.
Their family of nine — including seven adults, a three-year-old child and a two-week-old infant — wasn't harmed, but the house was completely destroyed, along with all of the family’s belongings.
Hope House is accepting item donations, such as clothes, diapers and formula, for the family.
Donations can be made to the Hope House, located on 408 W. Center St. in Galax; to Jill Burcham of P.U.S.H. Ministries at Rooftop of Virginia, 206 N. Main St., Galax; or to Angela Crowder at Corinthian Hair Salon, 206 N. Main St., Galax.
A special benefit expense fund has also been set up at Grayson National Bank. The account is under Christy Mendoza’s name, and can receive deposits from any Grayson National Bank location.
Donations can also be mailed to Grayson National Bank P.O. Box 186, Independence, VA 24348.
