HILLSVILLE — Carroll County deputies have recovered two stolen rings and placed a charge of grand larceny from a Sept. 17 incident.
Peggy Burcham Calfee of the Galax area reported the theft of three rings — two gold with diamonds and one sterling silver — from her home to Carroll Deputy Billy Johnson, according to police reports.
The rings were valued at approximately $650, and have an even higher sentimental value to Calfee, as one was a gift from her late husband.
The rings went missing from the countertop in her bathroom after Calfee said she had a guest in her home.
Calfee recognized her rings in a local pawn shop.
As a result of the investigation, deputies charged Christina Marie Hawks, 35, of Galax with one count of grand larceny.
