ELK CREEK –– A father-daughter combo and several close finishes highlighted the championship points races at Elk Creek Dragway.

With the Sept. 11 event rained out, the final points standings reverted to the previous weekend’s totals, with three classes decided by nine points or fewer each.

Three points were the difference in the D.O.T. class as Wytheville’s Robbie Copenhaver edged out Wes Sumner 943-940 for the title. Robert Neal was third with 877 points, followed by Ronnie Brannock (773) and Roger Wiggins (793).

Dale Waller had a relatively wide margin of victory in the Motorcycle class standings, taking the title by 173 points over runner-up James Phibbs, 1,050-877. Martin Richardson, Jason Hiatt and Buck Reedy completed the top five.

The Hash family took home its second track championship of the season as Brieanne Hash rallied for the Junior Dragster title.
