Cruisin’ & Groovin’ will be held on Friday from 5-9 p.m., with hundreds of antique and classic cars, motorcycles and antique farm equipment lining the streets of downtown Galax.
This is the second Cruisin’ & Groovin’ of the summer, and 2011 marks the fourth year for the event, formerly Groovin’ on Grayson, sponsored by the Galax Downtown Association.
Downtown streets will close at 3 p.m.
Volunteers of the Galax Downtown Association will sell snacks and a DJ will provide a mix of music.
Admission to the event is free, and there is no charge for cars to take part in the cruise-in.
“We just want to make it a festive, fun atmosphere,” said Kathy Cole, director of the GDA. “We’re really looking forward to this.”
Last year, more than 2,000 people attended the cruise-ins, with 150 to 200 cars lining the streets each time.
Children’s activities will also be available at the Grayson Street stage area during each event. Many downtown shops will be open for business Friday night.
The next Cruisin’ & Groovin’ will be held Aug. 26.
