The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office advises that a white male and two white females, driving a white pickup and red dump truck have been approaching elderly citizens about paving driveways.
According to police, the two women quote a price for the work to be completed and stay in the residence talking to the individual while the man completes the work. Upon completion of the work, they demand a higher payment saying that the price quoted was per foot of pavement and more was required than initially quoted.
Charges are pending on Timothy Lee Hamilton of Woodlawn for performing work without a contractor’s license, after investigation by Sgt. Bobby Lyons, Deputy Joe Utt and Galax Police Department Officer Bill Shaffner.
Any citizen who is approached in this manner should not contract with these individuals and should immediately contact the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 728-4146 or (276) 236-5119.
