HILLSVILLE –– Just seven days after allowing a school-record 63 points in a shutout loss at Richlands, Carroll County turned the tables and scored the most points ever by a Cavalier football team, thoroughly dismantling Graham 60-21 in the regular season finale for both teams Friday at Tommy Thompson Field.

Carroll County finishes at 7-3 (5-1 Southwest District) and wrapped up the No. 3 seed in Region IV, Division 4. The Cavaliers will most likely host Bassett in a first round game this week. Carroll County had opened the season with a 17-14 loss to the Bengals, losing on a last-second field goal. Graham dropped to 1-9 (1-5) but may still be playing this week in the Region IV Division 3 playoffs, pending final tabulation of the VHSL ratings.

Blake Bowman threw for 100 yards and four touchdowns, ran for 62 yards and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score as the Cavaliers topped the previous high of 59 points they put up against Grayson County in 1997. Carroll had reached 50 points just eight times in 40 years before topping the half-century mark twice this season.

It was the third straight game allowing more than 50 points for Graham, which has given up an average of 42 points per game.

Carroll led 14-7 when Bowman opened the floodgates for the Cavaliers with a 90-yard kickoff return for a score early in the second quarter, then tossed three touchdown passes before halftime as Carroll took a 41-7 lead at the break.

Bowman connected with tight end Aaron Willard on TD plays of 7 and 22 yards, then hit Alex Horton on a 3-yard touchdown pass four seconds before the half.

Jordan Lamb scored on a 1-yard run and Jacob Mollett bowled up the middle on a 31-yard score, his third touchdown of the night, as the lead widened to 54-7 by the end of the third.

Cameron Marshall added a 41-yard touchdown run in the fourth for Carroll County.

Mollett had two first-quarter scores, a 2-yard run and a 25-yard reception, but Graham’s Adderius Jackson scored on a 19-yard run early in the second quarter to trim the lead to 14-7. Jackson would score all three Graham touchdowns.

Bowman, who entered the game with one touchdown pass in nine games, was 8-of-10 for 100 yards and the four TDs. Mollett had two catches for 33 yards and ran 13 times for another 85 yards as Carroll gained 450 yards of total offense. Ryne Ayers led a 350-yard rushing attack with 90 yards on seven attempts.
