Cavaliers drop tough loss to Abingdon

-A A +A

HILLSVILLE -- Abingdon scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning Saturday to edge Carroll County 4-3 in a Southwest District game. The Cavaliers had taken a 15-0 road loss to the Falcons just four days earlier, but were three outs away from a 3-2 win when Olivia Moore stroked a two-run single to put Abingdon over the top. Amber Cannaday scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 Cavalier lead in the first. Moore, who drove in all four Abingdon runs, hit a solo shot in the top of the second and added an RBI in the fifth, but the Cavaliers bounced back, sparked by Emily Hiatt.
