Bogeys to reopen Aug. 30

It’s official — after closing in 2009, Bogey’s Restaurant will reopen Aug. 30.
Not only will the restaurant give customers another place to eat, but it will also boost the area’s economy after 28 employees were hired, many of them with restaurant experience.
The restaurant is owned by Kenneth Belton, Doug Morgan, Earl Morgan and Tuck Sage.
Karl Berzins will serve the dual role as chef and restaurant manager. Mandy Swiney will serve as wait staff manager and Brandy Hill is bar manager.
Belton said the restaurant will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The restaurant will specialize in steaks and seafood and offer a variety of other menu items including chicken, pasta and more. A bar, complete with big screen televisions, will also be open during regular restaurant hours.
Belton said the plan is to offer good food, quick service and a family atmosphere. In the future, they will also provide catering services, host receptions and weddings and other events.
“We want Bogeys to be a part of the community,” Belton said.
Bogeys was opened in 2005 by Stewart Frazier, but poor economic times forced its closing in 2009. It was on the real estate market from then until this May, when Belton and his partners bought the building. They installed new carpet and made other renovations.
The restaurant was built on Galax Country Club’s property, which is now the Galax Municipal Golf Course.
The rear of the restaurant has large windows and a deck providing a good view of the golf course.
