INDEPENDENCE  — An overflow crowd is expected to attend this Friday night's game between the Grayson County Blue Devils and the Galax Maroon Tide with the Mountain Empire District championship on the line.
Grayson County Athletic Director Chad Wright has passed on some information to help fans get into the stadium and, most importantly, find a parking place.
Wright said gates would open at Bill Strong Field at 5 p.m. for the game that begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $6.
The GCHS administration requests that no fans enter the campus prior to school dismissal at 3:45 p.m.
Parking will be available in the following places on the high school campus:
• GCHS main lot in front of the high school
• behind the CATE Center
• weather permitting, on the practice field
• at the Guynn Shopping Center lot, as space permits.
GCHS will also be utilizing the Nautilus parking lot on Powerhouse Road for overflow parking.  Shuttle buses will be provided to people wishing to park at Nautilus from 5:30 p.m. until one hour after the game ends.
The Mount Vale United Methodist Church Youth will sponsor a "Holiday Food Drive" and  "Meeting in the Middle" at the game.
The group consists of Grayson and Galax students who would like to encourage everyone to come together for a cause.
Everyone is asked to bring at least one canned food or non-perishable food item to the game. Collection boxes will be set up at each entrance.
Also, at the end of the game, the youth would like to encourage all players, coaches, teachers, cheerleaders, parents and fans to meet in the middle of the field for a prayer.
