    HILLSVILLE -- Grayson County has averaged nearly 80 points per game over its last seven outings, mostly by forcing the tempo and beating defenses down the floor. Wednesday, the Blue Devils showed they didn’t have to run all night to put up a chunk of points.

    Grayson County was deadly from 3-point range and shot 56 percent from the floor overall, pulling away in the second half to deal Carroll County an 89-66 nondistrict defeat.

     ELLISTON -- Galax got back on the winning track Monday night, blowing away Eastern Montgomery in the second half to take a 53-23 nondistrict win.

    Galax closed out 2009 with a couple of close matches against nondistrict opposition, dropping a one-point decision to Abingdon while edging Alleghany, N.C. by eight points. The Maroon Tide gave up 12 points in forfeit losses and lost a possible 12 more points on double forfeits in falling to Abingdon 35-34.

     MAX MEADOWS -- In a win over Floyd County two weeks ago, Grayson County rallied from 12 points down before pulling away to a 12-point win. Monday, the Blue Devils dispensed with the rallying and went right to the pulling away part.
