HILLSVILLE –– Carroll County took a must-win game over Southwest District leader Tazewell Wednesday by holding the Bulldogs to 11 second-half points in the 45-38 victory.
The Cavaliers (11-8 overall, 4-2 district) kept their district championship hopes alive by handing the Bulldogs (10-7, 4-1) their first SWD loss of the year.
Taylor Martin scored 15 points and Crysta Guynn hit four 3-pointers and had 14 points for Carroll County, which pulled away from a 27-27 halftime deadlock.
Nobody scored more than seven points for Tazewell.
