Locals cheered on the roadsides for the line of trucks traveling U.S. 58 this year for the ninth annual Truckers Parade Against Cancer on Sept. 19.
According to event organizer Cindy Dixon, 60 trucks participated in the parade this year, raising $7,100 for the local Relay for Life events. Proceeds from these relays are given to the American Cancer Society.
“It was a very successful day. There were so many people on the roadsides, holding signs and cheering,” Dixon said, noting that plans are already underway for next year’s parade.
