Samuel Adams once wrote, “No people will tamely surrender their liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and virtue is preserved.

“On the contrary, when people are universally ignorant, and debauched in their manners, they will sink under their own weight without the aid of foreign invaders.”

It was true in 1775, and I believe it is no less true in 235 years later.

 The congressional election is nearly here, and I continue to read lavish promises, endorsements, and supposed service records of the candidates.

Some think Rep. Boucher’s visionary work renders him close to walking on water for constituents.

I cannot resist pointing out he’s still doing precious little, particularly recently, for 28 years of voter loyalty.

My daughter has competed in a number of pageants. Sometimes you place, sometimes you don’t. And that is something she has grown to accept.
