Thoughts for Veterans Day:
I’ve been driving a friend to the Veterans Administration Hospital and clinics in Salem for the last year or so, and this is one V.A. outfit that deserves nothing but praise and gratitude.
Clinics are crowded with vets from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, and yet it’s a peaceful place — open and airy, with plenty of places for a tired person to sit down. Signs are big and easy to read; directions are plain and simple.
