    Touched by response
To the first responders, the EMS people, the doctors and nurses. I think you are all heroes in the wake of the fire affecting the Delp family. I am proud to live in this community and I fully appreciate every one of them. Thank you and God bless.

    Tiny print
Yesterday, after I received my new Century Link phone book, I put the old one in to recycle. Today, after trying to read the small print in the new one, I put it in the recycle and got the old one back out. Thanks, Century Link.

    A 24/7 job
I know I might be in the minority when I say this, but I am glad I didn’t own the factories that I worked in or the businesses or had the headaches that they have doing the bookwork and the ordering. All I did was show up, put in a hard day’s work and got a paycheck. I didn’t have to stay. If you own a business it is a 24/7 job. Just because you go home doesn’t mean you don’t have to worry about your business when you are not there.

    Selective enforcement
Why does Hillsville let some downtown merchants get away with parking in front of their store all day when it is supposed to be a two-hour limit? I, as a customer, can’t find a parking space. This is especially bad on the north end of town. You only enforce some of the laws. If I did this, I would get a ticket. Either remove the limit or enforce the law.

    Payback first
I cannot believe Supervisor Bob Martin would even consider making a motion to appoint Billy Mitchell to serve on the Carroll Planning Commission after taking more than $400,000 in Carroll funds. Give the job to a law-abiding citizen and let Billy Mitchell apply for a public job after he has paid back his $93,547 [in remaining restitution to the county].

    Lost and found
There is an orange and white work zone barrel in my yard on Branch Street. So, if the city is missing one or someone else is, it is in my yard. Just come by and pick it up.

    Wonderful story
What a wonderful story you have written about — Tommy Adams. Very touching, moving, inspirational. You deserve all the kudos. Great job.
