    Clean it up
I am a citizen that lives on Tower Road and it is nothing but a trash pile, especially the end coming toward the four-way stop off Country Club Lane. It seems like people just want to throw their trash out all over the road. It looks awful and terrible and needs to be cleaned up. I would like to live in a nice, clean area. Please, if there is anything you can do about this, please help.

    Fines for littering
People that put trash out in other people’s yards, I am going to push the General Assembly here in Virginia to make it a $5,000 fine and it needs to be a $5,000 fine, those trashy people.

    Unsightly trash
I’m calling in reference to all the trash and garbage that has been thrown out of vehicles along Timberline Drive between U.S. 58 and Cranberry Road. It is a very unsightly mess and these people that are using it for a garbage disposal, it is not a secret garbage disposal place. These people should use a container or small bag in their vehicle to put their trash in and when they get home, put it in the garbage can. People should have respect for the elderly that have to get out there and clean it up.

    Second guessing
I agree with the caller that Fries, Providence and Mount Rogers schools should have been repaired and left open. Correction, Grayson Highlands School was built at Grant, not at Mount Rogers, which is the upper end of Grayson County. Seems there is no life after Volney going west except at tax time. Also, residents, more money is needed for janitors to clean floors at Grayson Highlands School. This is a proud resident of Whitetop, Va.

    Saw the light
Just want to compliment Carroll County High School. When driving by earlier this week, got to see the softball field lights. They are great. I really see how it can bring more games to the local area by them being played at night. I just wonder how long it will be until the baseball team gets the same quality lights. I thought they both had to have lights according to the rules, but who knows. That’s the way things work in Carroll County.

    Bad example
In parts of our country there are problems between law enforcement and African Americans and that is bad. Worse than that, our president and the first lady are racist. They show this by the comments that they make about events that happen in our country and the comments they don’t make about other events. This sets a very bad example.

    Deserving better
I cannot express enough my disappointment with Grayson County Schools’ central office administration. Our students deserve so much better than anyone looking out for their own financial well-being. Put our tax dollars to good use by keeping quality teachers and building-level administrators in place. Not by deepening the pockets of the highest paid individuals in the school system. If our school board allows this to happen, it is a shame and very disappointing.

    Look around
Carroll County should be the last county in the state to not have a full and active planning commission and industrial development commission. If only they would just look to the adjoining counties of Wythe and Surry and do what they do to get jobs and businesses.

    Hit reset
It’s our own fault Grayson County.... for believing ... leadership can do what it takes to move our public schools into the future. Here we are, millions of dollars in the red, getting rid of teachers and no clue what the future of our children’s schools will look like. We need to clean house in central office and hit the reset button.
