    Check your list
You know, this is the holiday season. Santa Claus is checking his list. So, I think people should be checking our lists when they go to big chain stores. I was charged for stuff I didn’t even buy. So, it pays to check your list.

    Bring it back
To the ones that stole my mom’s pocketbook on Dec. 2, please bring back the pocketbook with the contents. You can keep the money, but return the pictures and sentimental items. Please return it. No questions asked.

    Watching my speed
They sure made a mistake when they put the 35 mph instead of 45 on the Galax four-lane next to Pizza Hut and through there. I try to go by the speed limit and people are passing me like I am sitting still. Just running around me, and everything. That is going to cause accidents instead of helping. It’s a shame, really.

    Witnessing speeders
To all the people on Pipers Gap that think there are a lot of speeders up there, I live on Pipers Gap and I enjoy watching the speeders whiz by my house. If you are going 45-50 mph, you need to lose your license.

    Gladeville family
I had a Thanksgiving meal at Gladeville Elementary School today, and it was awesome. We had a very good crowd and the people enjoyed their family and kids and friends.

    Strains continue
On Aug. 1, 2012, there was a call titled “family strains,” regarding the son who wouldn’t call the grandfather about the kids. Do you know what is going on now? It is called justice for the innocent. The Lord did answer, and amen that he did or those innocent ones would still be subjected to the situation. Justice prevailed to show that mother you found so saintly wasn’t quite so saintly after all.

    In the dead of night
When a team wins the championship, that’s great. But, when the team gets back late on a Saturday night and most people are in bed, you shouldn’t give them a siren escort from Exit 14 all the way back to the school and wake everyone up that is already in bed. Instead, you need to wait and have a parade for them when people are awake and can attend. That way, they don’t wonder what is going on with all the sirens blaring around the area.
Editor’s note: The team returned shortly after 10 p.m.

    What nerve
How can people who have health insurance sit there and deny others the same thing? They also say, “if you don’t work, you shouldn’t eat.” And they work a few days a month. They never work the holidays and they always tack on another week or two. If they don’t work, they shouldn’t eat either and they definitely shouldn’t get paid. What nerve they have.

    Works both ways
A lot of stores and gas stations have signs up saying, “don’t be on cell phones in the checkout line.” They consider it rude and don’t want it to happen. Isn’t it just as rude to walk into a service station or store and the cashier is sitting there on a cell phone and talking? If customers shouldn’t be on their phones in the checkout line, don’t you think the cashier should not be on their phone either? It just makes common sense to me. What goes around, comes around. Do it both ways.

    Meaner and meaner
I am amazed by people. I was recently involved with an animal that was abused. Came home with its tail duct-taped and its mouth duct-taped with a cigarette in its mouth. I was told to call and report this to animal control. Animal abuse and neglect is nothing to be laughed at. It is a serious matter and we all need to take this seriously. Our pets are part of our families. This world needs a lot of prayers going on right now. People are getting meaner and meaner and this old world is not going to be around very much longer.
