    Mass appeal
When will the Catholic church in Woodlawn open? I have seen their sign up for years, but still no mass times. I was just wondering when it will open so I can quit driving to North Carolina.
Editor’s note: According to its online listing,  St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at the corner of Joy Ranch Road and U.S. 58 in Woodlawn holds Mass the first Sunday of the month at 9 a.m. All other Sundays, mass is at 11:30 a.m. Mass in Spanish is at 2:30 p.m.

    Voters have spoken
In regard to the county votes call, does this person not know majority rules? For the past two years, it was a 3-2 vote the other way. However, the last election [changed] the majority. The citizens have spoken. I am sure we will hear a lot from concerned citizens that got tired of the bureaucracy.

    Take a stand
Grayson County: those who want zoning out, speak out. Come to the board meeting. Stand up for what you have worked for — the right to do what you want to on your property. By the way, you are the one who has paid these taxes. Come and stand up for what you believe in.

    Still speeding
When people visit me from out of state, they are all the time asking me why the police can’t crack down on these speeders on Pipers Gap Road.

    Go to the bank
I read where Carroll County was slow to cash the taxes that were paid. It is not only Carroll County. I live in Grayson County and I called because they hadn’t cashed my check and my checkbook didn’t balance. It was over a month and still not cashed. Why not hire a few more people to keep up with the debt loads to citizens paying taxes. Why should they not be required to cash within timely fashion or be penalized? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

    Rising cost
How could Obamacare possibly cause a person’s insurance to go up now? It doesn’t start until January. But, whoever had their insurance to go up and is complaining about it, they need to talk to their insurance company. That is who is to blame.

    Growing inferior
We wouldn’t have such a debt problem in this country if the big shots in big companies paid their fair share of taxes. Why do they hate the American people so much? They made their money on our backs and the stuff coming into this country anymore is inferior junk. Can stuff can any smaller, thinner, weaker? What the heck? A pound of coffee is less than a pound – way less than a pound. A bar of soap is getting smaller. Dish lotion is watered down. When does the greed stop?

    Steam your buns
There is a little deli shop [address omitted in editing] … Try to make a great hot dog but theirs is just like everyone else’s because if they would just only use a steamer to steam their buns, they would have the best hot dog in Southwest Virginia. It is the only thing they lack, having the best hot dogs to brag about. They don’t brag, but they could if they steamed their buns. Nobody steams their buns anymore and the hotdogs are not much. This is coming from a hot dog lover.
