    Where’s it coming from?
About the front page article about Carroll County wanting to get four school buses, I think it is very poor management. I don’t buy anything if I don’t know where the money is coming from. They are going to pay $400,000-plus for buses, but then they said they didn’t know where the money is coming from. Why would you buy something if you don’t have the money or don’t know where it is coming from? Carroll County needs to wake up.

    Already provided
It’s difficult to understand why Galax is spending money on a recycling center when there is already a drive-in recycling center in operation at no cost to taxpayers. Why would Galax want to compete with a private enterprise that employs local people? This is a waste of taxpayer money when the service is already provided. Makes no sense.

    Loose dogs
Grayson County needs a leash law on dogs and a dog warden to enforce these laws. Any given time, you ride around in Grayson County, you can count at least 50 dogs running loose. You can’t hunt because dogs are running everywhere.

    Jealous opposition
Thumbs up to President Trump. He is the best since Ronald Reagan. Some of the ones that are against him think they are going to lose their welfare checks and they are going to have to go back to work. Trump has done more for the country since he has been president than Obama did in eight years. Democrats are jealous of him. He is going to make America great again. He is going to drain the swamp.

    The referees’ fault
I’m calling about the Grayson/Galax football game. I wouldn’t be hollering about winning when the refs are dirty doing their job. I saw our boys clothes-lined, which wasn’t called. I saw one boy get his helmet slung across the field, which wasn’t called. I saw one of Grayson’s boys jump on the sidelines on our boys, which wasn’t called. So, if you want to call that winning, I call that dirty myself. At least our boys know what sportsmanship is all about. Go Maroon Tide. You got it.

    The smoking factor
I want to say I really like your paper. I moved here and I like your paper. Also, in your Readers’ Hotline, it is so true, what was written in there about so many people. I am an elderly person and I go to the doctor. Some people come up and pay and then they wait on the outside and go take a smoke. Can you imagine? Yes, I agree with the person that wrote in about the cigarette situation. Let’s get on disability or something because we have smoked our brains out and let somebody else take care of your health care.

    Airport is critical
I keep seeing comments in the paper about Twin County Airport. I hope these people complaining realize the only way we can attract industry or maintain industry in our area is to have a functional airport.

    Stay out of it
City council, why get involved with recycling when we have a locally-owned business handling this need? Yes, they need some gravel and always needs cleaning. But, have you seen the mess that people leave for them to handle? The city should stay out of recycling and support recycling and the people that already have this business for us available. You could spend your time finding someone to buy the property on Fries Road that you bought for the school, which was a real fiasco.
