    Line is busy
This is in regard to “texting away.” It is not the cell phone record they need to check. It’s the school phone records they need to check about “texting away.”
Editor’s note: No more calls about this matter. Or texts.

    Keeping score
You so-called Christians who voted Republican, you are always talking about the 10 Commandments and it ought to be posted. Well, for every lie you tell about Obama, it’s a Commandment you have broken. This also applies to Democrats who lie on Republicans.

    Pantry was a success

I want to express the gratitude of our community for the mobile food pantry that came to Volney on March 15. The event was a super success. Thanks to all of the great volunteers and the United Company Foundation of Feeding America.

    Made us proud
The special section of The Gazette on March 16 was a great recognition of local high school sports teams, coaches and support staff. The honors are certainly deserved as the teams have worked long, hard hours on the court. But also, in the classroom, as most of these students are also listed on the honor roll page for Galax High School. You make us proud. Congratulations to all.

    Many bloodlines
I read in the Hotline about other months and take your pick. I must have hit it pretty good because I am Irish, German, Cherokee and I think I have some Scot in there too. So, who are the true Americans if we are all made up of so many different bloodlines? Who are we?

    Thanks for the award
I am calling in response to, “congratulations to the parents” for the rec ball girls in last Wednesday’s paper. I just want to thank them for the award. I greatly appreciate it. I can’t help that I am proud of my girl and support her and her teammates.

    Lost and found
A big thank you to the person that found that metal disc out on the New River Trail. We have a granddaughter with cerebral palsy and that disk holds her iPod. That is one of the few enjoyments she has in life. That disk dropped off of her wheel chair. Thank you again for rescuing it and making it so we could find it so easily. We will have a much happier granddaughter because of it.

    Beans and taters
To an area restaurant that has not opened yet, let’s go ahead and open up this restaurant. Let’s get the pinto beans out on the buffet.

    Backing off
I’m glad the governor and state delegates decided to not submit Virginia women to transvaginal ultrasound, better known as state rape. Now, we can relax, knowing all we have to submit to without our permission is taking our clothes off, high frequency soundwaves and observation and pictures of our uterus and ovaries.

    Leave it alone
This is regarding Clover Street and the smoking [near the hospital]. Whoever it is that called that in, it’s wintertime. What in the world is he doing outside? Can you smell the smoke? You need to leave that traffic alone because they are probably just going home.
