    Case status
Inquiring minds want to know and who better to ask than The Gazette Inquirer? These minds want to know what is happening with the Rooftop thing. Haven’t heard anything in a while. Is the state investigation over? Has there been a trial? And better and most interesting, has anyone found out who the anonymous sources are?

    Veterans honored
I’m calling to thank The Gazette for publishing photographs of Carroll County Confederate veterans of the War Between the States. Thank you for reminding us that April is Confederate History Month in this Commonwealth of Virginia.
Editor’s note: You’re welcome. Our “Civil War Profiles” feature has proven to be quite popular, thanks to our partnership with the Jeff Matthews Museum in Galax. We will continue to feature these photos, though not in every issue as we did during April.

    What else?
I agree with the caller about town employees putting a roof on the water plant in Fries. What else do they do?

    Enough police cruisers
Just curious. On April 23 about 6:30 p.m., we observed eight police vehicles parked behind Hillsville’s new office. Also, two other vehicles on the street — the chief’s car and a patrol car. Hillsville has almost as many vehicles as officers. Something to think about on May 1.

    Past price surges
This is an answer to the “road of distress.” I would just like to ask why everybody wants to give Obama such a hard time on the price of gas. He didn’t start all the gas prices. It started in the 1970s under Nixon and Gerald Ford. Obama and Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy and them have really helped our country and I think the Democrats need a hand of praise for it.

    Real reason
Everyone knows the real reason gas prices are going up. It’s the big oil companies and the investors and a Congress that is voting for them and all their tax breaks because then Congress gets a big donation to their campaign fund.

    Opportunity knocks
I could not agree more with the caller last week regarding our Twin County Regional Hospital aligning with Duke LifePoint Healthcare. That is amazing. This is just a great, great opportunity for our community to have Duke LifePoint here.

    Let ‘em walk
I am a Carroll County citizen and I am absolutely against the supervisors raising our taxes. This is ridiculous for the old people. The school system needs to cut back on a lot of stuff that is not very beneficial, beginning with the buses after school.

    Contributing to delinquency
What you see is what you get. Parents, don’t blame your teachers for your child’s bad grades, when he or she are told not to give up their cell phones by you. When a teacher is trying to teach class, they spend so much wasted time having to tell them that cell phones are not to be used in class. If only you could see what you have let them become. You are the one setting an example. Take a real good look before you blame others for your decisions. Don’t always put blame on teachers. Do the crime, pay the time.
