Hotline

  • Readers' Hotline 11/12/12

Editor’s Note: Some partisan calls from both sides about candidates in the election were received between deadlines for the Readers Hotline that appeared last week and this week. They have been omitted because, after the election, they are no longer relevant.

    Time to leave

    Jerusalem excepted
I still say the Middle East will be destroyed with the exception of Jerusalem, where God will set his kingdom up. I know also, the Bible says, “be kind to your enemies and I will heap coals of fire upon their head.”

    Lost in the shuffle
I was at the Hillsville Town Council meeting when a nice lady had a problem that was supposed to be taken care of in April by the old council. Her councilman had not returned her call as he had promised to do. I can’t wait until next town election.

    Best he could do
The reason Obama cannot do the things he promised, the Republicans opposed everything he tried to do. He did the best he could. Republicans want their own cronies in there so they can all get tax breaks, run over the middle class and tell people what to do. Get rid of benefits that we need. We are going to be hurting if people put Romney in office. Romney and Obama might not read the Hotline, but people here in Galax can and the ones with families, they need to think about this.

    Catch the speeders
Instead of the State Police having so many road checks up here at Pipers Gap, they need to set out radar. They could write 100 tickets a day, easy. I wish the mailboxes were on the same side of the road as houses at Pipers Gap. People in Pipers Gap think this is the Indianapolis Speedway and it is dangerous to even go to your mailbox.

    Public meddling

    Put a bow on it
I’m calling about the Galax garbage pickup. I am one of many whose garbage did not pick up last week. We were left with our garbage sitting on the street and we are elderly and have a hard time getting it out there in the first place. I was wondering if the city would like us to giftwrap our garbage before we put it out.
