    Many thanks
I would like to thank all the hard-working AEP employees and crews from other states for getting our power back on during the snowstorm. They worked long hours in the cold weather, sometimes having to carry poles and equipment because their trucks couldn’t get in where they needed to go. Some people didn’t have power for three or four days but AEP did do their best to get it back on as quickly as possible. Thank you again.

    Extra help
I would like to thank all the extra help we have had with getting our power restored — the help from American Electric Power and also any of the volunteer companies that have come in and the Asplundh tree-cutting company.

    Soaring debt
Regarding debt and dogs, you have a convoluted way of explaining away Obama’s spending and then you try to make Bush look bad in the process. Please, let me hear how you explain the fact that Obama has spent more in his years in office than all previous presidents combined have spent.

    Temporary holdup
A single Republican tried to block the raise against the veterans of the United States of America. If there wasn’t any veterans, there wouldn’t be no America.
Editor’s note: You are referring to something that occurred more than four months ago and was quickly resolved and passed. The Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2012 took effect on Dec. 1. It was introduced by a Republican and had bipartisan support.

    Also important
Gov. McDonnell might be trying to help with the prison, but he is trying to shut down the training center, which is just as important.

    Caution for Fries
You say government spends too much. Yet, when a few in Fries want a birding trail, you have your hand out for $185,000. Now, that is a little too much for a path down the riverbank. I have nothing against the fire department, but instead of a birding trail, maybe Fries needs some caution lights so when the firemen are doing 60 mph down Main Street with only a small light on their dash, people could be warned.

    Pick and choose
