    Easily impressed
I would just like to thank the person who put the Mexican salt and pepper shakers on my car Friday. Thank you so much. I love them.

    Neighborly deeds
I would like to thank my good neighbors in Grayson County for helping me out during the snows we had in January and again in April. One gentleman picked me up in the national forest on Route 21 when my truck wouldn’t go any farther, carrying me all the way home. Second gentleman driving his farm tractor there on Spring Valley Road towed my little old blue truck to the top of the mountain so I could make it the rest of the way home. Thanks again to the security guard in the little blue truck.

    Prison level?
Regarding the person who wanted to know what the security level of the new Grayson prison is, at the open house, we were told it was level four.
Editor’s note: According to the Ben Wright, warden of the River North Correctional Center, meetings are still being held and the exact level has not been determined. The facility has always been characterized as a medium-security prison. We are waiting to hear directly from the Virginia Department of Corrections regarding your question.

    Still owes
I want to let the people of Galax know that evidently they don’t need their tax money. I went down there with checkbook in hand ready to pay my taxes the other day because I had been behind. I owed 2011 and 2012 and I tried to pay them and that woman said, no, I had to go through a collection agency to pay them. Well, I am not going through a collection agency to pay them so they can just do without, I guess. I guess they will do fine without me.

    Help Galax succeed

Editor’s note: We received a few calls this week regarding our note on a Hotline call last week, about why a bread store had moved out of Galax to Carroll County. We mistakenly reported that one of the two bread stores was still open in Galax. After publication, we discovered that both bread stores, Merita and Flowers Bakery, have now moved out of the city. Sorry for the confusion.

    Community asset
Twin County Regional Hospital was an asset that belonged to the community. The asset was sold to Duke LifePoint a year ago. How much money is the community going to get, when will we get it, who will manage the money? When Wytheville and Danville hospitals received money, the community received millions of dollars.

    Dividing up
I hope the Grayson Recreation Department will stand up to the big names in Grayson County. It was so unfair to all the kids in Grayson County during basketball when the traveling team was not split up. I sincerely hope things will be different for baseball for the kids’ sake. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
