    Kids first
Regarding resource officers, I think the school board needs to look at what its priorities are — putting resources at our school to look after our kids or taking it to buy the superintendent a new vehicle. I don’t think the school board is looking at priorities. They should be looking at the kids first. If they are not, we are in the wrong business.

    Hands off
I was reading about the property seizure at Carroll Industrial Park. That park does not need a four-lane. There is nothing in the park whatsoever. If they want to seize the property, they need to pay the lady for her property. If they don’t want to do that, they need to build them a bridge across the interstate to enter their own property. They don’t need to be taking people’s property. It can be argued any way they want to but it is still against the law and I think the lady ought to fight it.

    Caved in
The traffic safety committee recommended the areas of our city have lower speed limits. Our city council decided to lower these limits. Now, we need to vote our council out and get people in that will represent the folks of Galax and not special committee groups. Everyone knows this is a speed trap and our city council caved in to special committee groups.

    Doesn’t get it
I’m a strong Democrat but President Obama is getting about as bad as the second George Bush. Like stopping that pipeline, which would put people to work. That would employ about 2,000 people.
Edited: The company behind the Keystone XL Pipeline says it is the largest infrastructure project currently proposed in the U.S. It says construction of the 1,179-mile pipeline would require 9,000 skilled American workers.

    Speed trap
After you drive through Galax a few times you are going to have to go have your brakes lined. The focus should be on breaking and enterings and drug problems we have in Galax instead of setting a speed trap for everybody. Try making 25 mph going down a hill and see if your speed doesn't pick up and then you have a police officer waiting there to pull you over to write you up. Oh, but I forgot, Galax is supposed to be such a safety place. Well, good luck.

    Dog threats
[People in Fox Run] turn their dogs out after they see the dog warden go by in the mornings. I almost got attacked by two. One looked like a half-bulldog — white with spots — and a small white Scotty dog. I guess because I was with my cat and working my flower garden. Good thing I had a hoe or I probably would have been bitten and attacked. Something is going to have to be done about those dogs or they are going to come up missing.

    Speed trap
These Galax speed limits they are trying to lower — do they want us to walk? Then maybe that would give the officers more time to pick up these that are dealing in drugs and killing somebody instead of sitting and waiting for somebody to go 30 mph in a 20 mph zone so they can write them up. It’s nothing but a speed trap. More money for the city. The chief is just protecting his job.

    Show me the money
What happened to all the money they were going to put into the hospital? I noticed they put a new roof on it and it still is pouring water everywhere when I was up there visiting my family member. It looks like they are short on help to take care of patients or to register people. What is going on up there?
