Avoiding the quagmire

Attendees at the Carroll County School Board meeting last week witnessed a display of intestinal fortitude.
That came when Pine Creek District representative Olen Gallimore made an announcement at last Thursday’s special school board meeting on construction matters.
Gallimore’s behavior has been questioned after he received loads of fill dirt on his property from the Carroll Intermediate School construction site.

Update tax policy to help rebuild schools

Gov. Bob McDonnell, U.S. Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner, Rep. Eric Cantor and former governors George Allen and Tim Kaine wrote this commentary supporting congressional legislation to encourage private interests to renovate older school buildings so that they could be used as modern educational facilities. Webb and Warner have introduced the bill, “The Rehabilitation of Historic Schools Act of 2011.
