Sheriff's office reports on 2017 calls

INDEPENDENCE — Grayson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a total of 8,403 calls for service in 2017, according to an annual report released this month.

Deputies also answered 417 animal control calls.

They served 5,681 warrants; 1,270 criminal and 4,411 civil; and recorded 118 felony charges, 81 drug charges, and 21 larceny and burglary charges.

The sheriff’s office drug-sniffing dog, Gauge, completed 225 searches last year, which included checks within Grayson County Schools.
