    Amazing
Just want to say what an awesome job the Galax High School cheerleaders did on their dance at the Galax-Grayson game. Great job to the captains Kristin McMickle and Ashley Nale for choreographing the dance. You put a lot of hard work in it and it showed. Every cheerleader did an amazing job. You all represent the school extremely well. We are so proud of you all.

And now for something completely inconsequential.

Whether by coincidence or the fact that it was Martin Luther King Day, it was an extremely slow news day on Monday in the sports department. Neither Carroll County, Galax nor Grayson County had anything scheduled for Monday.

Nobody brought in any pictures of a giant catfish, a 12-pointer or an AAU team. Not even a photo of a turnip that looks like Tim Tebow.

There is still a page to fill, however.

The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream of racial and social equality continues to inspire decades after his passing.
Local church congregations came together on Jan. 15 to celebrate the Civil Rights leader's lasting influence.
The theme of the annual event — held this year at Gospel Temple in the Oldtown community in  West Galax — was "Born To Inspire."
