Not only did a burglar leave behind his cell phone when stealing wrapped Christmas presents from a home in Carroll County, he also showed up to reclaim his phone from police.
Chase Kiran Altice, 34, of Vinton, is being held without bond in connection with the break-in.
The burglar, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office said, dropped his cell phone in a bedroom in the house. Deputies called the Vinton man's family, saying his phone had been found in Carroll. Could he come by and pick it up?

Two Galax police officers helped to rescue a stranded motorist on Tuesday in rising waters on Creekview Drive, during heavy rains that dumped several inches of water on the area.
Galax Police Department responded to a call of a woman stranded in her automobile on Creekview Drive at 6:26 a.m.
Upon their arrival, responding officers observed a vehicle trapped by rising water. Officers Chris Hines and Andrew Burnett entered the flood waters up to their waist in 30-degree temperatures and rescued Lisa Frost of Galax from her vehicle.

An alleged burglar made a bad call by leaving behind a key piece of evidence, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Department.
Chase Kiran Altice, 34, of Vinton, has been charged in connection with a daytime break-in at a residence in the Laurel section of the county on Nov. 23.
Police discovered that a cell phone found inside the home belonged to the accused.
Carroll Sheriff Warren Manning said Altice's vehicle was spotted in the area at the time of the crime, as well.

Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries officers on Monday continued investigating the Nov. 25, incident that happened on Gambetta Road, says Lt. Rex Hill.
Authorities say that Larry Lundy, 59, who lives on Gambetta, was sitting in a camouflaged "chair blind" in a field near Woods Path Road about 8:45 a.m.
Lundy was wearing blaze orange at the time, but that didn't show up outside of the blind.
