  • Attempted murder suspect to enter pleas

    HILLSVILLE — A Wytheville man indicted for 25 crimes related to police chase in Carroll County intends to enter pleas on at least some of those charges.

    Last week, Judge Brett Geisler postponed the plea hearing scheduled that day for Eric Sean Repass, 44, until Oct. 24. Among other things, he is charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer.

  • Eisenhauer murder trial delayed

    CHRISTIANSBURG — Defense attorneys for David Eisenhauer, who is accused of killing a 13-year-old girl in 2016, say they need more time to analyze text messages and other data before he stands trial for first-degree murder.

    Eisenhauer, 20 — a former Virginia Tech student from Columbia, Md. — also is charged with concealing a body and abduction in the death of Blacksburg teen Nicole Lovell.

  • Brown to serve 12 years for child porn

    Staff Report

    HILLSVILLE – A Hillsville man who pleaded guilty to 12 counts of possessing child pornography will spend one year in prison for each crime, followed by a decade of probation.

    The case is one of three brought to a Carroll County grand jury through the efforts of a Hillsville police detective and the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

  • Long sentenced for arson, burglary, extortion

    INDEPENDENCE — Roby Long of Independence, charged last December in a suspicious fire on Greenville Road, has pleaded guilty to a number of charges in Grayson County Circuit Court.

    In July, Long entered a plea of guilty for charges of arson, destruction of property, burglary and extortion. According to the court, he was sentenced on the same day for all four convictions.

  • Coulson convicted of malicious wounding

    INDEPENDENCE — Travis Dale Coulson, indicted earlier this year on multiple charges involving a car chase in Galax — which caused another driver to crash through a house — was found guilty in Grayson County Circuit Court for aggravated malicious wounding and destruction of property.

    He was sentenced to spend more than 20 years in prison.

  • Nofsinger murder trial dates set for 2019

    HILLSVILLE — As it is scheduled now, a double homicide suspect from Galax might not go to trial until nearly three years after the crime.

    Richard Denny Nofsinger Jr. faces one charge of capital murder in the death of Anastasia Alley, 21 months, and one charge of first-degree murder of her mother, Alyssa Kenny, 28, both of which occurred on March 10, 2016, in Galax.

    Carroll County Circuit Court’s schedule shows that Nofsinger, 38, is scheduled for a two-week jury trial, beginning Jan. 7, 2019 and continuing through Jan. 17, 2019.

  • Nofsinger indicted in Galax homicides

    HILLSVILLE — Richard Denny Nofsinger Jr. was indicted by a Carroll County Circuit Court grand jury on Monday for murder charges related to a double homicide of an infant and her mother last year.

    Nofsinger faces one charge of capital murder in the death of Anastasia Alley, 21 months, and one charge of first-degree murder of her mother, Alyssa Kenny, 28, both of which occurred on March 10, 2016, in Galax.

    Nofsinger was arrested in May 2016, but his state case was postponed so that a federal child pornography case could proceed.
