    INDEPENDENCE — Matthew Steven Jones, 35, who is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of his girlfriend, is scheduled to appear in Grayson County Circuit Court on June 6 for motions hearing in the case.

    Land Transfers

    These land transfers were recorded Jan. 8-27 in the office of Carolyn H. Honeycutt, clerk of the Carroll County Circuit Court, Hillsville:

  • Guilty plea entered in gold heist case

    HILLSVILLE — Isaac Charles Edwards of Austinville entered a guilty plea to one count of concealing or compounding a felony and two counts of accessory after the fact in a felony on April 30 in Carroll County Circuit Court.

  • Criminal indictments unsealed in Grayson

    INDEPENDENCE — Four additional indictments have been unsealed since a grand jury convened April 25 at the Grayson County Courthouse in Independence.
    Aunt Bea’s Manager Christopher Shawn Rose, 41, of Independence was arrested April 29 on felony embezzlement charges.
    He is accused of taking more than $200 between Nov. 1, 2013, and April 21, 2014, from the Independence restaurant owned by J&B Food Inc.
    Rose has since been released on a $5,000 bond.

    Land Transfers

  • Grayson grand jury indicts six

    INDEPENDENCE — Six people were indicted on seven charges by a Grayson County Circuit Court grand jury on April 25.
    An indictment is a formal charge, not a finding of guilt.
    The indictments included:
    • Jorden Earl Adams –possession of a firearm after having been convicted of a felony; possession of ammunition for a firearm after having been convicted of a felony.
    • Benjamin Michael Asbell – receipt of a stolen firearm.
    • Christopher Dillon Bobbitt – failure to register as a sex offender.
