District Court

These sentences were recorded in June in the Galax General District Court Office, Galax. Sentences may be appealed:
Harry William Pfund III of Galax, guilty of public swearing/intoxication; pay $25 fine and $91 costs.

HILLSVILLE — A 54-year-old man will serve three years in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to dealing large amounts of drugs across the street from Woodlawn School.
Charles Terry Caudill pleaded guilty to five of seven illegal drug-related charges that arose after Carroll County deputies searched his home at 604 Woodlawn Road in February 2009, according to court records.
Authorities seized nearly six pounds of marijuana, 28 guns and $12,800 in cash after serving a search warrant there.

HILLSVILLE — The Carroll grand jury issued 91 indictments after meeting Monday. Of those, nine were sealed by the court.
An indictment is a formal charge, not a finding of guilt.
• Lorna Jean Adams — obtaining property by false pretenses (nine counts); bad check (four counts)
• Rudolph Sankey Barker — abuse and neglect of a child, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony, eluding a law enforcement officer, violation of the habitual offender statute
