  • Former teacher, principal charged

    WYTHEVILLE — Howard S. Ingo, a former coach, teacher and administrator with Carroll County schools, has been charged with hazing and corporal punishment of a George Wythe High School football player.
    “The charges issued were obtained at the direction of the Special Prosecutor appointed by the Wythe County Circuit Court for the investigation of certain complaints,” according to the March 21 release from Grayson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Doug Vaught, the special prosecutor.

  • Nichols pleads guilty to reduced charges in embezzling case

    Sharon Fulton Nichols, Rooftop of Virginia CAP’s former human resources manager, entered a guilty plea to three reduced charges of “accessory after the fact” in Grayson County Circuit court on March 21, in connection with another case involving three accounts of embezzlement from the non-profit agency.

  • Father, son plead guilty to meth charges

    BHILLSVILLE — An August 2012 Twin County Drug Task Force investigation into methamphetamine manufacturing in Cana yielded convictions against a father and son.
    Both men pleaded guilty to drug charges on Monday in Carroll County Circuit Court.
    Authorities in clinical-looking white coveralls and breathing masks spread out meth-making items and ingredients on a tarp in front of the home at 53 Amazing Grace Lane, under the shade of a tree on the warm and sunny summer day almost two years ago, after a search warrant was served.

  • Grand jury indicts 53 in Carroll County

    HILLSVILLE — A Carroll County grand jury issued 141 indictments against 53 individuals in Monday’s circuit court session.
    The indictments include an aggravated malicious wounding charge against Pamela Denise Peaks, 47, in a January incident in Hillsville involving her 48-year-old husband. Investigators believed that the incident between Peaks and James Parnell “Crow” Peaks started as a domestic dispute.

  • Man shot by deputies faces felony charges

    INDEPENDENCE — Randy Lee Anders, 33, of Mouth of Wilson, who was shot during an altercation with Grayson County deputies on April 29, 2013, is scheduled to appear in court on April 4.

  • Murder suspect transferred back to Va.

    DUBLIN — Chad Allen Reeves, 31, one of two suspects charged in connection with the killing of Brandon Billings 11 years ago, has been transported from a federal prison in Lexington, Ky., to the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin.
