  • Lineberry in court for charge of manslaughter

    Staff Report

    INDEPENDENCE — Tanisha Ann Lineberry, charged in the vehicle death of her son, three year-old Jaylen Lineberry, was appointed legal counsel at a hearing in Grayson County Circuit Court on Aug. 17.

    According to court records, Lineberry has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, and abuse of a child resulting in serious injury.

    Her trial date is scheduled to be set on Oct. 27. According to the circuit court office, attorney J. Tompkins will represent Lineberry.

  • Grayson charges man with sexual abuse

    A man has been arrested on charges involving child sexual abuse, in an ongoing investigation.

    According to a news release from Grayson County Sheriff Richard Vaughan, investigators responded July 20 to complaints of child sexual abuse, made against Adam Lee Haga, 44.

    Investigator Mico Davis interviewed Haga on July 26. The suspect was arrested and charged with forcible sodomy, a felony in Virginia, and taken before the magistrate for a bond hearing, Vaughan said.

  • Woman charged in son's death

    Staff Report

    FRIES — A Fries woman now faces charges after an investigation into the death of her son earlier this year.

    According to Grayson Sheriff Richard Vaughan, deputies responded to a call on April 30 at 286 Adder Lane in Fries, in reference to a child being struck by a vehicle.

    “Upon their arrival, the officers discovered that Tanisha Ann Lineberry, 24, ran over her three-year-old son, Jaylen Lineberry, while moving her car in the driveway,” according to a news release from Vaughan.

  • Grayson grand jury indicts 26

    INDEPENDENCE – A Grayson County Circuit Court grand jury indicted 26 people on 36 drug and other charges last Friday.

    The grand jury also sealed several indictments, which will be opened once those named have been arrested.

    Indictments included:

    • Timothy James Hicks was indicted on three charges, attempted statutory burglary, statutory burglary and statutory burglary in the night time.

  • Andrews pleads guilty to federal charges

    Staff Report

    ABINGDON – A Carroll County business owner, who paid his employees in cash to avoid paying taxes to the Internal Revenue Service and later lied in a bankruptcy proceeding, pleaded guilty July 20 in federal court.

    Acting U.S. Attorney Rick A. Mountcastle said the case involved more than $1 million in cash.

    Jones Keith Andrews, 62, of Galax is the owner of the bankrupt Andrews Farming Inc. and the still operating ANDCO Logistics.
