The Twin County Airport Commission met with representatives from Galax, Grayson and Carroll counties and state and federal officials on Monday to discuss the economic value of the local airport, its relationship to the proposed Wildwood Park project and ways the commission could pay for an extension of the runway.

About 40 percent of Appalachian Power’s Virginia residential customers will see a credit on their next electric bill, the company said Monday.
The credit is the result of the Virginia State Corporation Commission’s July order in the company’s 2009 base rate case request in which the SCC approved a rate lower than what the company temporarily collected on an interim basis last winter.

An updated community Web site designed by Professional Networks in Galax allows visitors to view a calendar of events, plan their vacation and get directions to area happenings.
The site tcvaevents.com was launched in June 2007 and has averaged 17,000 hits per month, as planners view events happening in Grayson and Carroll counties and Galax.
Individual events listed on the tcvaevents.com site are getting high rankings on Google search engine lists for their respective topics.

Apart from some few improvements here and there, the staff and the breakfast and lunch menu at The Diner — formerly West Galax Diner — will be left much the same, said Guy Sapone, who took ownership of the restaurant and reopened last Thursday.
