HILLSVILLE — A suspect who led Carroll deputies on a 30-minute chase after trying to escape from a circuit court hearing had nine indictments issued against him when the grand jury met Monday.
Richard Wilson Garrett, then 36, formerly of Gladesboro Road, had been in court that day in March 2012 on breaking and entering and larceny charges.
At about 9:30 a.m., while a deputy was moving several prisoners from the lockup to take to circuit court, Garrett allegedly escaped out of the sally port.
