    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Susan and C.R. Minor, and R. David Presutti of Morristown, Tenn.

    She was graduated from Morristown Hamblen High School East in 2011.
    She is a student at the University of Tennessee, studying therapeutic recreation and psychology, and is employed by CVS Pharmacy and Studio 7 by Avalon in Morristown.
    The groom-to-be is the son of Stephen and Rhonda Hall Bowen of Mouth of Wilson.

  • Emma Jean Catron, Jane Michelfelder and Junior Bullion are seasoned at their trade.

    Except it’s not, technically, a trade, and it only pays back in satisfaction.

    They’re all volunteers with the Twin County Regional Healthcare, each working a slightly different job. Since April 12-18 is National Volunteer Week.

    Under the aegis of TCRH Director of Volunteers Linda Belcher, they came together to describe what they do.

  • Geneva Hanks Richardson of Woodlawn celebrated her 95th birthday with a dinner given by her family at Forest Oak Christian Church.

    Her children are: Harlin Richardson, Clyda Rosenbaum, Margaret Liddle and Karen Goad. She has eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is the widow of George H. Richardson Sr.

  • Gregory and Rebecca Nelson of Baywood announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Nelson, of Kingsport, Tenn., to Allen Childress of Shawsville, son of Marty and Sue Childress of Shawsville.

    The bride-to-be was graduated from Grayson County High School in 2007, from Emory & Henry College in 2011, and from Virginia Tech in 2013. She is a statistician at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport.

  • WHITETOP — The annual Whitetop Maple Festival will launch Grayson’s 2015 festival season, which continues throughout the summer and into the winter season, with over 38 events to choose from.

    The Maple Festival is March 28-29 in the county’s highlands. It begins at Mount Rogers School (11245 Highlands Parkway, Whitetop) at 8 a.m. each day. Enjoy a pancake breakfast with genuine maple syrup, tapped fresh from the highest peaks in Virginia.

    This year marks the area’s 14th annual Cystic Fibrosis Auction, and according to main-man-in-charge Freddy Hall, it will be the kind of event regular customers know to expect and newcomers will be surprised to discover.

    Up for auction will be toys, games, memorabilia, collectibles, furniture new and antiques, building supplies (anyone need a sink?) and services ranging from private concerts to some time behind the steering wheel (stick?) of a military tank.

    Really.
