  • Riley Preston Mays celebrated his second birthday Feb. 8 with family and friends. He is the son of Scott and Priscilla Mays.

    His maternal grandparents are Janie and Donnie Turner and Gordon Bowman. Paternal grandparents are Bob and Wanda Cothren Mays. His siblings are Brittany, Zack, Austin, Cameron and Dylan.

  • Mr. and Mrs. James Stephen Watson announced the engagement of their daughter, Anna Carr’e Watson, to Robert Clarke Hunter Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clarke Hunter of Tazewell.
    Watson is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Richmond School of Law. She is a lawyer with Brown Greer PLC in Richmond.

    Hunter is a graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington and the University of Richmond School of Law and School of Business.

  • Trevor Vadeboncoeur turned five Dec. 15. He celebrated with a Toy Story theme party at Blue Ridge Bowling Lanes with family and friends.

    His parents are Edward and Regina Vadeboncoeur of Fancy Gap. His grandparents are Mary Frost and the late Thurman Frost of Galax and Adele Moros of Bethel, Conn.

  • Nikki Grimm and David Weddle announced their engagement on Dec. 12, 2010.

    Grimm is the daughter of Arnold and Cheryl Grimm.
    Weddle is the son of Kay and Darrell Weddle.
    A Nov. 11, 2011, wedding is planned.

  • Roger and Martha Wiggins of Baywood announced the engagement of their daughter, Megan Wiggins, to Ronnie Brannock.
    Brannock is the son of Tracy and Debbie Brannock of Hebron.

    A wedding is planned for May 13, 2011, at 6 p.m., at Hebron Church of Christ.

  • Melissa McAdams Turner and Timothy Stephen Smith were united in marriage Oct. 16, 2010, at Bible Baptist Church in Galax. Danny Tolley officiated.
    The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her daughter, Jenna Turner.

    Flower girl was Haleigh Smith, daughter of the groom. Maleke Valentine was ring bearer, and his mother, Amy Richardson, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor.
    Bridesmaids were Crystal Burress and Amanda Hammond, friends of the bride, and Ashley Smith, daughter of the groom.
