  • Wilton and Delores Dolinger will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a reception Aug. 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the VFW building, Klondike Road, Independence.

    They have two children, Wilton Curtis Dolinger of Marion and Jennifer Dolinger Snow of Independence.
    They have two grandchildren, Wilton Curtis Dolinger III, of Arlington, Va., and Heather R. Dolinger of Fredricksburg, Va.
    The couple requests no gifts.

  • INDEPENDENCE — River North Correctional Facility is anticipated to provide a significant boost to local businesses and increase employment in Independence and Grayson County when it opens this fall, but another significant way it has already impacted the county is by unifying many area churches and religious groups with a common goal of ministering to inmates.

  • Iris Gardner of Fancy Gap celebrated her 90th birthday with two parties on July 20.

    First, a breakfast at Shoney’s and again at 4 p.m. at Gladesboro Church. The parties were hosted by her children, grandchildren and her siblings. She was born on July 12.

  • Wyatt Hash celebrated his second birthday Aug. 6. He is the son of Eric and Karen Hash.

    His grandparents are Larry and Becky Elliott and Milton and Barbara Hicks.

  • Morgan Deary and William “Billy” Osborne announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    Deary is the daughter of Tony and Robin Deary of Pennington Gap.

    Osborne is the son of Myra Jean Osborne and the late Mack Osborne of Mouth of Wilson.
    A wedding is planned for Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. at Natural Tunnel State Park, with reception to follow at Cove Ridge Center.

  • Two winners were chosen to transform themselves through personal training. The Gazette is following their progress. This is the first report since Travis Haynes and Treva Osborne began their journeys.

  • Ronnie and Karen Taylor of Fries announce the engagement of their daughter, April Nicole Taylor, to Ian David MacInnis, son of Brian and Kim MacInnis of Christiansburg.

    Taylor is a graduate of Radford University and is employed by Brown, Edwards & Co. CPAs.
    MacInnis is a graduate of Radford University and is employed at the NRV Regional Jail.
    A December wedding is planned.  

  • Vesta and Herbert McGrady celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 6 with family and friends at a luncheon hosted by their children at the HaleW-ilkinson‑Carter Home.

    Vesta McGrady is a retired licensed practical nurse. Herbert McGrady is a retired long‑haul truck driver.
    They attend Round Knob Baptist Church.
    They have two daughters, Carolyn Frost and Gail McGrady; three granddaughters, Brooks Edwards, Bobbie Jo Watson and Christy Wheatley; and four greatgrandchildren, Peyton, Emily and Clay Edwards and Luke Watson.

  • Kyle (Snake) and Phyllis Robinson Smith celebrated their 50th anniversary July 5.

    They have one son, Kyle Dean, and fiancée, Mandy Johnson.
