  • Church for sale, any denominations accepted

    HILLSVILLE — There will be no revival for Fellowship Wesleyan Church. Instead, the facility will be sold after the pastor moves to New York.
    After Alan Page came to Hillsville in 2009, he tried to get the word out that the church was still pursuing its mission.
    Many didn’t even know the church continued to hold services. Despite erecting a new cross in front of church on Virginia Street, visible from U.S. 58, people still thought it had been shuttered.

  • Campground is fun for the whole family

    FANCY GAP — In 2005, Mark and Cheryl Manning decided to make their life-long dream of owning their own campground a reality.
    Soon after, they found the perfect place to start: a campground on Fox Trail Loop in Fancy Gap, off of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Carroll County, that had been there since the 1950s.
    Along with help from the rest of their family, they set to work turning it into the campground they had always imagined.

  • Hamby, Love to be married

    Edwin and Lois Love of Galax announce the engagement of their son, Kevin Shayne Love, to Darlene Marie Hamby, the daughter of Sonya and Terry Hamby of Elkins, W.Va.

    A March 23 wedding is planned at Trinity Baptist Church at noon.

    Kasen Lane Galyean celebrated his sixth birthday Jan. 9. He celebrated with a motorcross party at Blue Ridge Lanes with family and friends. He is the son of Donnie and Angie Galyean of Baywood.

    He is the grandson of Nelson and Linda Galyean of Baywood, Jimmy and Cathy Jones of Galax and Dennis and Janie Cox of Cox’s Chapel. He has two sisters, Hailee Anders and Kristin Galyean.
